URGENT ! ! !

PLEASE pray for Josiah (Cmdr's son) because he is having fever. Pray also for Elisa and Elena(cmdr's daughters) that God will keep them healthy. Pray for extra strength for Sis. Serena (Cmdr's wife) as she takes care of them.

BUTTER or MARGERINE

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

DO YOU KNOW.. the difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few
only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .

And now, for Margarine...

Very high in trans fatty acids .

Triple risk of coronary heart disease .
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.

Lowers quality of breast milk.

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..

This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Jean Chatzky talks with Pastor Will Bowen

According to Pastor Will Bowen, you could be leading a happier, healthier life—if you just quit complaining! Jean talks with Pastor Bowen, author of A Complaint Free World, about his message of positive thinking and the benefits of a complaint-free attitude toward life.

Pastor Bowen says he saw the negative effect complaining was having on himself and the people in his community and decided to find a tangible tool to help solve the problem. So he distributed purple plastic bracelets to his parishioners at Christ Church in Kansas City, Missouri, and instructed wearers to simply move the bracelet from one wrist to the other every time they caught themselves being cranky, nagging, whiny, mean-spirited or critical.

Within 21 days—or the time psychologists say it takes to form a new habit—Pastor Bowen says he and others began to transform for the better. He says the bracelet helps wearers become more mindful of their negative thinking, and in turn replace complaints with more constructive thoughts and words. "You will notice that your life improves—you become a happier person," he says.

Pastor Bowen says the bracelets have impacted many people's lives. To date, he's shipped 3.6 million bracelets to people in 86 countries around the world. He says when people shift to a complaint-free attitude about life, their health, relationships and even financial situations often improve. "If you want to be prosperous, you need to focus on what you do want in your life as opposed to what you don't want," he says.

MISSION TRIP(s) !!!

1) Mission trip to Sabah is cancelled due to unforseen circumstances;

2) As such the mission trip to Sabah will change venue to Sarawak instead. This means we will have two (2) teams going to Sarawak. 1st team leaving as planned 28th Nov till 9th Dec. The 2nd team will leave 8th Dec till 16th Dec (same timing as in Sabah)

Both teams will meet up in Pastor Gremen's church - Christ Baptist Church on the 8th & 9th before leaving for their respective destinations.

3) Rough itinerary for the 2 Teams are as follows:-

A) 1st Team - Arrive 28th (Wed) travel to Sibu for 3 days conference for all the Iban Churches in Sarawak. We will be conducting the youth seminar in the afternoons for those 3 days. We will then travel on Sat afternoon for Ps.Leslie's church - Betong Sion Church. We will minister during the Sun service there. Leave for longhouse on Mon. The team will be split into 2 groups - 1 group to Luing, Jelang & Kerapa; the other group will go to 3 new longhouses in that region. Meet back in Betong on Fri. Leave Betong on Sat for Kuching. Meet 2nd Team in Ps.Greman's church on Sat for a night rally. Minister with 2nd Team for Sun morning service. Afternoon do some shopping for souvenirs in the waterfront before leaving Kuching in the evening for LCCT;

B) 2nd Team - Arrive 8th (Sat) in Kuching. Meet up with 1st Team at Ps.Greman's church for night rally. Basically 2nd Team will spear head this rally because of the time factor. 1st Team will play supporting role. Minister with 1st team on Sun. Mon leave for 3 new longhouses. Sat arrive back Kuching. Afternoon shopping in the waterfront. Sun minister in a church. Leave Kuching in the evening for LCCT.

6) Thailand Team-Thung Wa / Thung Song / Suratthani / Ko Rat / Pumphin (8D/7N) ETD from Klang Outstation Bus Station: 10.00pm on 7th Dec. ETA at Klang Outstation Bus: 4.00am on 14th Dec.

Rough Itinerary:
Day 1 – Travel to Hatyai
Day 2 – Travel Thung Wa + ministry to GTA Thung Wa leadership
Day 3 – Sunday Worship service + Children’s Church in 2 locations (AM&PM)
Day 4 – House to house ministry in nearby villages
Day 5 – Travel to Suratthani + ministry to Thung Song Church
Day 6 – Ministry to Ko Rat & Phumpin houses (AM) & Suratthani Church (PM)
Day 7 – Travel back to Hatyai + shopping + travel back to Klang
Day 8 – Arrive at Klang Outstation Bus Station at 4.00am


There will be a meeting going on today at 745pm in church. At this meeting Pastor Gideon will be praying for the missionaries.

Please do keep all the mission team in prayer. Especially the 1st Sarawak team which will be leaving TOMMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(time flies...)

Mission Trip 2007 Checklist

Bring along 2 bags – One big bag for your entire luggage, and a backpack (slightly bigger- sized ones) for the longhouse trips.

Items to bring:

1) Sufficient clothes for 9 days (ladies, pls bring some dark t-shirts)
2) Long pants/jeans (compulsory for Sunday Services)
3) Trackbottom/jeans (for services at the longhouses)
4) Comfortable sandals / shoes (for longhouse trip)
5) Socks
6) Shoes (for Sunday services)
7) Sleeping bag
8) 2 x Sarong (for ladies)
9) Slippers
10) Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, beauty kit, facial products, etc)
11) One roll of toilet paper (For some people, better bring 2 rolls!)
12) Personal first aid-kit (plasters, panadol, charcoal pill, etc)
13) Insect repellent (important!)
14) Pyjamas (if you still wear this to sleep…)
15) Bible!
16) Testimony printed out clearly (big fonts)
17) Undergarments (pls avoid flip-flopping ‘em..)
18) Sweater (for cold mornings and winter nights)
19) Torchlight with extra batteries
20) Cap/sunblock lotion
21) Shorts (not too short though…)
22) Extra plastic bags for dirty clothes, misc…
23) Handphone charger
24) Raincoat

When you pack your bags, don’t forget this rule…

FILO – First In, Last Out!
Basically what this means is…for items you intend to use immediately, pack it last. For those to be used only at the end of the trip, pack it in the bag first.

Also, please pack all your clothes in a plastic bag to keep them waterproof (in case it rains, bag falls into the river, etc etc).

Read Each One Carefully and Think About It a Second or Two

1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you..

2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with y our smile.

7. To the world you may be one person, out to one person you may be the world.

8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.

12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.

13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

REMEMBER: WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.

True friends: How many people actually have 8 true friends?

Hardly anyone I know ! But some of us have all right friends and good friends!!!

resting in Jesus

READ PSALM 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. Psalm 23:1-2

I have 3 children who are all grown up now. But there is something I noticed over the years with my kids. They were never ever tired. Their eyes might be closing, their speech might be slurring, their legs could be giving way, but if I said, "Josh, are you tired?" he would immediately say, "No." Same with Rachel and John

Kids will never admit that they're tired, because if they admit it they might have to take a nap. And there is nothing worse in a kid's mind than being forced to snooze.

Sheep are like kids. They wont admit it when they are tired. That's why Psalm 23:2 says,"He makes me lie down in green pastures."

I remember putting my son John down for a nap one afternoon. I put him down in the crib, and I walked out and shut the door. I stood by the door for a moment. Withing 10 seconds I heard him grunting and puffing as he pulled himself up on the railing of the crib. I opened the door to see him peering over the side of the crib at me. He mumbled in baby talk, "No nap, Dada."

I put him back down on the matress, and this time I put my hand on his little back. He didnt like that, and he tried to get up again. So I put a little bit more pressure on his back. But he still wanted to get up again. He tried to get up a few more times, but he couldnt quite master enough strength to get beyond my hand. Withing a matter of minutes, he gave up and went to sleep. John didnt want to go to sleep, although he desperately needed to rest. So I had to make him lie down.

Thats what the Shepherd has to do with us sometimes. He makes us lie down. We get busy, we get overcommitted, we get caught up in the rat race. So he will make us lie down. He can use a financial setback to make us lie down. He can use a heart attack to make us lie down. He can use a job layoff to make us lie down. When we refuse to rest, He will step in and make us rest. Its His job to save us from ourselves.

Speak to me Lord...

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study.

The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the
Lord's voice.

The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to
people?"

After service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie
and they discussed the message.

Several different ones talked about how God had led them in
different ways.

It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving
home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, "God..If you still
speak to people speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to
obey."

As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the
strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk.

He shook his head and said out loud, "God is that you?" He
didn't get a reply and started on toward home.

But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk.

The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize
the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli.

"Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk." It didn't
seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the
milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward
home.

As he passed Seventh Street , he again felt the urge, "Turn Down
that street."

This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection.

Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street.

At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down
Seventh.

Half jokingly, he said out loud, "Okay, God, I will".

He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should
stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in semi
commercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst
of neighborhoods either. The businesses were closed and most of the
houses looked dark like the people were already in bed.

Again, he sensed something, "Go and give the milk to the people
in the house across the street." The young man looked at the house.
it was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they
were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in
the car seat.

"Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake
them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid." Again,
he felt like he should go and give the milk.

Finally, he opened the door, "Okay God, if this is you, I will
go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to
look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will
count for something but if they don't answer right away, I am out
of here."

He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear
some noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, "Who is it? What do
you want?" Then the door opened before the young man could get away.

The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked
like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and
he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his
doorstep. "What is it?"

The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, "Here, I brought
this to you." The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway.

Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward
the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was
crying. The man had tears streaming down his face.

The man began speaking and half crying, "We were just praying.
We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't
have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me
how to get some milk."

His wife in the kitchen yelled out, "I ask him to send an Angel
with some. Are you an Angel?"

The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the
money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked
back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face.

He knew that God still answers prayers.

This is so true. Sometimes it's the simplest things that God
asks us to do that cause us, if we are obedient to what He's
asking, to be able to hear. His voice more clear than ever. Please listen, and
obey! It will bless you (and the world).
