HEROES.

Ps. Tony Phang
27th November 2011

If  there was a chance,
Which Superhero would you want to be? and, Why?

Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Ironman, The Flash, Captain America, Cicakman..
or maybe even Awesome Man?
"If I could be a superhero
I would be... Awesome Man
I’d fly around the world fighting crime
According to my awesome plan
And if I saw criminals trying to lie
Hurting other people and making them cry
I'd haul them off to jail in my awesome van
'Cause I would be Awesome Man"
— Stephen Lynch, "Superhero"
Whichever hero you chose to be, now with that power you can't just go running around like a headless chicken!
That wouldn't be hero-like, because a hero does not do things to benefit himself. He acts for others!
"There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:13
And a true hero is seen in Jesus. Because, He has set the standard. And there is a difference between a true hero and a hero from the comic books/tv. A true hero sacrifices for others, just like Jesus did for us on the cross.

But, you don't have to die on a cross to be a hero. Don't! it has been done and we are forgiven of our sins!

Be a hero in whatever situation you're in! Help that blind man cross the road, take out the trash before being asked or stand up for someone you know who's being bullied.

Jesus saved you, now you know what it takes to be a hero.

HAVE A HEROIC WEEK AHEAD. UP, UP AND AWAY!

What do you actually see,Jesus?

The World Through Jesus' Eyes
Reverend Dan Klepel
20th November 2011

Is this glass half empty or half full?

Some say its half empty, Some say its half full!
Well, everyone has their own opinion, rightt?

Ever wondered, What JESUS thought?
Matthew 9:35-38 35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Jesus was born in the most humble of circumstances, simple and small even though he was God's Son to show us the greatness of his love for us. It was sincere and deep without needing to show-off.

-He went to all, (the Bible does not lie!) of the towns and villages so ALL would hear about God's love.
--He had a purpose to share the good news and heal the sick. He wasn't on vacation! no Aloha 'Oi!
---And Jesus came with compassion, which means Jesus felt a tender feeling..a softness for us. A warmth and a concern.
Why?
Because when Jesus looked, He saw us attacked/teased/disturbed/bullied and weak/abandoned /defenseless

He saw those people, but he also saw us. Doesn't it sound familiar?  Haven't we all felt like that, or feeling it even now..

He saw, and then thought. . there's so many lost souls out there, so many wounded and hurt. But there are so little people to help them, to pick them up and tell them about Jesus who can save them. That's why his disciples went out and spread the word, missionaries, pastors and people go out to tell people about God.

And He calls you to do the same too.

Mark 16:15-18  15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Now you've seen what Jesus sees, its time to DO what Jesus has asked you to!
Let's go! :)

IT'S INFALLIBLE

30th October, 2011
Ps. Christine Phang

THE B.I.B.L.E

*BAM.
No, its not just the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth..its THE WORD FROM GOD, HIMSELF!

So, what is God's Word?
The word of Life ~
Phil 2:16
16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.

The helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit ~
Ephesians 6:17
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Solid food for our Spirit ~
Hebrews 5:12-14
11-14I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you've picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby's milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God's ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.

What does it do?

Makes us complete ~
1 John 2:5
5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God[a] is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him.

Convicts us ~
John 12:48
48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.

Frees us ~
John 8:31-32
31-32Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. "If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you."

But! Unless you live the word of God, you can't activate it all of it's goodness into your life!

Thus, THE HEART - Must be Open.

                           - Must be willing to Change. For the Word does not change, We have
                             to change.
                             Matthew 24:35
                             New International Version (NIV)
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass
                             away.

Remember that..

Hebrews 4:12
The Message (MSG)
12-13God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon's scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God's Word. We can't get away from it—no matter what.

similarly..
Hebrews 4:12
New International Version (NIV)
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

So hopefully we've learnt something new together, something you wouldn't wanna forget!

For those about to take SPM, ask God for His favour and strength! And His merciful love that is new every morning, ask just in time before you head off for school :)

NO WORRIES! BIG SMILES, THUMBS UP.

"I fell in love with God,who loves me back."

11th Sept, 2011
Brother Kenneth Ng

Remember your first love?
When your heart beats out of control, you sweat like its raining and feel empty even after you just ate!
You purposely walk pass that person's class everyday and laugh a little louder when you're near,
and go panic when you don't see that person in the canteen two days in a row.
And when they see you,
Aduh! Shy-nyer!

aww.

Have you felt that way about God?

As humans, we need to see, hear and feel to be close or interested in someone.
So its hard to be close to God, when we don't see, hear or feel him all the time..Righto?
BUT THERE'S HOPE!
  1.      APPROACH
"Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come." Jeremiah 33:3
We need to first find Him, and we will findd Him!

  2.      HANGOUT
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
     Psalms 37:4
The more time you spend with Him, the more you understand and learn how He is! And then, He will listen to you too
  3.      TALK & LISTEN
So Abram moved his camp to Hebron and settled near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. There he built another altar to the Lord.
    Genesis 13:18
How do we talk to God? -Prayer.
How do we listen to what He has to say? -During quiet times, Devotion.
  4.      ACT - WHEN HE SPEAKS
14 After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. 15 I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants[a] as a permanent possession. 16 And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! 17 Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.”

18 So Abram moved his camp to Hebron and settled near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. There he built another altar to the Lord.
    Genesis 13:14-18

When you get the chance to know what God is saying, JUMP AT IT! DO IT!

So, if you've got the goods now.
    Let's begin a romantic journey!

Wednesday 7 September 2011

Remember His love.

Psalm 103:1-12 (Contemporary English Version)

The LORD's Wonderful Love

1 With all my heart
I praise the LORD,
and with all that I am
I praise his holy name!

2 With all my heart
I praise the LORD!
I will never forget
how kind he has been.

3 The LORD forgives our sins,
heals us when we are sick,

4 and protects us from death.
His kindness and love
are a crown on our heads.

5 Each day that we live, he provides for our needs
and gives us the strength
of a young eagle.

6 For all who are mistreated,
the LORD brings justice.

7 He taught his Law to Moses
and showed all Israel
what he could do.

8 The LORD is merciful
He is kind and patient,
and his love never fails.

9 The LORD won't always be angry
and point out our sins;

10 he doesn't punish us
as our sins deserve.

11 How great is God's love for all
who worship him?
Greater than the distance
between heaven and earth

12 How far has the LORD taken
our sins from us?
Farther than the distance
from east to west

Have a grrrreat week ahead! :)
Kick-start it with a dose of LOVE! GOD'S LOVE!
